An old tradition got its formal recognition: when the wine fermentation process is over, the wine producers invite everyone to appreciate the quality and taste of the new wine. It is a great opportunity to try different types of wine, enjoy barbeque, meet people, and to get an unforgettable Moldovan experience. Folk music and dance events are planned in an open-air area, and participants can even engage in the traditional dance “hora”, a group dance symbolizing unity. Nearly 100 wineries, thousands of visitors, including tourists from all around the world gather on this day in the central square of Chisinau. Remember – Wine Festival is an excellent opportunity to discover Moldova.
At the airport you will meet your guide and driver. Check-in. After check-in your acquaintance with Chisinau – the capital of Moldova starts. Chisinau is known as the standard of the modern metropolis, with wide boulevards and streets, which grew up from the old city, build after European architectural traditions. Your tour will include the Museum of Natural History and Ethnography, the Central Park and The Alley of Classics, the monument of Steven the Great, Square of the Great National Assembly, the Triumph Arch, the Central Cathedral, the Organ Hall, the Market of souvenirs, the Theatre “ Mihai Eminescu”, and the tour of the Wine House. Lunch/dinner in the local restaurant specialized in traditional Moldovan cuisine accompanied with wine (optional).
Today you’ll visit one of the most visited sites of Moldova – Orheiul Vechi (Cave Monastery Complex), located in 55 km from Chisinau. This Cave Monastery is “arguably Moldova’s most fantastic sight”. Here you’ll see an Orthodox cave monastery called “St. Maria Dormata” expanded and modified inside the cliffs by the monks over the centuries ago and preserved in a functional state nowadays. After excursion about this fascinating complex and you’ll have lunch with folk program in the Moldovan family pension located in the neighborhood village. After lunch you’ll have one hour for independent exploration about that village. After Orheiul Vechi complex you’ll visit a monastery Curchi, the real pearl of our religious life. Here you’ll visit some churches, and among them – the “Virgin’s Assumption” Cathedral, built by the drawings of genius architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. In the afternoon you’ll continue with the touristic complex “Chateau Vartely” – 20 minutes’ drive from Curchi monastery. Excursion, wine tasting and dinner. Return to Chisinau.
Today you’ll get acquainted with the religious life of Moldova. After breakfast you’ll start for Capriana monastery (with the oldest church in the country) and Hincu convent (with beautiful cathedral and holy water spring).The road is fascinating and you’ll see gorgeous lines of vineyards and fields along the highway. Excursion about both monasteries. Later you’ll visit the largest winery in the world – Milestii Mici, mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records. Excursion, wine tasting and lunch with folk music. Arrival to Chisinau. Free time for independent exploration or dinner (optional).
Day trip to TIRASPOL (capital of Transnistria) – where the old USSR is still alive. Here you’ll see the symbols of Soviet times – hammer, sickle and red star reflected on the coat of arms of Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic, etc. City tour includes: Supreme Soviet (Parliament), V. Lenin monument, Square of Soviet Constitution, walk down the main avenue, World War II & Afghanistan War Memorial and visit to the famous Distillery “KVINT”. Lunch (optional). In the afternoon you’ll drive to the south-east of Moldova – Purcari winery. After check-in at Purcari hotel, you’ll be invited for excursion, elite wines tasting and dinner.
