Your walking tour of Baku includes the medieval walled city “Icheri Sheher” with its narrow alleyways, mosque and Palace of the Shirvanshahs. Continue to visit the 12th century Maiden’s Tower, the imposing mansions of the oil barons, built in the oil boom of 1870-1914 and Martyr’s Alley with its superb views over the Bay of Baku. Next take a trip to Absheron Peninsula visiting the Zoroastrian Fire Temple and Yanardagh (Burning Mountain). Dinner. Transfer to hotel.
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Azerbaijan’s isolated Azeri enclave Nakhchivan, wedged between Armenia and Iran. Known as the land of Noah, it shares no land border with Azerbaijan. Transfer to hotel. Visit the 12th century Momina Khatun Monument, Yusif Ibn Kuseyir Tomb, and the Carpet Museum, formerly Khan’s House. Next continue to Garabaghlar village in the Sharur region to see the 12th century monument and Solt Mine Hospital. Dinner. Transfer to hotel. (B, L, D)
After breakfast drive to Daridagh Thermal Spring in the Julfa region. Next visit Asabu Kahf Cave located 12 km from Nakhchivan City. Travel back to Nakhchivan. Dinner and transfer to airport for your flight back to Baku. Transfer to hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Then drive to Gobustan to see ancient petroglyphes. Return to Baku to visit the carpet museum. Take an hour boat trip at Caspian. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at your hotel.
After breakfast departure to Caucasus Mountains in Northwestern Azerbaijan. Dry landscape around Baku gives way to a densely forested mountain area. Visit the town of Shamakha, Juma Mosque, and Yeddi Gumbez. Next drive to Sheki. Visit the village of Kish with the oldest church in the Caucasus dating from the first century. Dinner and overnight in Sheki.
Breakfast followed by a visit to the Royal Summer Palace of the Sheki Khans with its magnificent frescoes and stained glass. Visit the Sheki market. Drive to Baku for dinner and overnight.
